Account Access & Security
Password reset, two-factor authentication, session management, and what support will never ask you for.
5 min read
Your MimikTrader account controls live trading connections, so it's worth locking down. This article covers how to reset your password, set up two-factor authentication, manage devices signed into your account, and how to recognize a support request that isn't legitimate.
Resetting Your Password
If you've forgotten your password, use the "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in page. Enter your email and, if an account exists for it, you'll receive a reset link.
- 1
Request the reset link
Enter your email on the forgot-password form. For security, you will always see the same confirmation message whether or not that email has an account — this prevents anyone from using the form to check which emails are registered.
- 2
Open the link from your email
Click the link in the email you receive. It takes you to a page where you can set a new password.
- 3
Set your new password before it expires
The reset link expires 30 minutes after it's sent. If it expires before you use it, just request a new one.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
MimikTrader supports authenticator-app based two-factor authentication (TOTP) — the same standard used by apps like Google Authenticator and Authy. It is not SMS or email-based.
Setting Up 2FA
- 1
Start setup from Account Security
Go to your account security settings and click "Start 2FA Setup."
- 2
Scan the QR code
Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or enter the manual text key if your app can't scan codes.
- 3
Confirm with a code
Enter the 6-digit code your authenticator app generates to confirm setup.
- 4
Save your 8 backup codes
You'll be shown a one-time set of 8 backup recovery codes. Store them somewhere safe — a password manager or a printed copy kept offline. Each code can be used once to sign in if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Turning on 2FA signs you out of every other active session — the device you just set it up on stays signed in, but any other browser or device you were previously logged in on will need to sign in again.
Sessions and Devices
MimikTrader allows multiple devices to be signed in at once — logging in on your phone doesn't sign you out on your desktop. Your account security settings include a Sessions panel listing every active session, with the device, when it was last active, and which one is your current session.
If you want to sign out everywhere except the device you're currently using — for example, after using a shared or public computer — use the "Revoke Other Sessions" button. It immediately signs out every other device, leaving only your current session active.
What Support Will Never Ask For
Legitimate MimikTrader support will never ask you for:
- Your account password.
- Your 2FA codes or backup codes.
- Your broker login credentials beyond what you enter directly in the official broker connect flow inside the app.
If anyone contacts you claiming to be MimikTrader support and asks for any of the above, do not provide it — reach out to support directly through the app instead.
