What MimikTrader Does Not Copy (Honest Limits)

Date-stamped 19 Aug 2026. Read this before you start a trial. Most copier pages lead with what they do. This one leads with what MimikTrader does not copy, because the expensive bounce is signing up, connecting a stack, and then hitting a hard platform limit.

Read this before you start a trial

If your book is Topstep Live (funded), stop here. That account type is not supported. If your book is ProjectX evaluation / simulated, that path is documented as supported.

You own the accounts. MimikTrader is not officially approved by any firm. No pass or payout guarantees. Confirm each firm’s rules and verify in sim before you size anything.

The hard limits (read this first)

If a row below is a deal-breaker for your stack, do not start a trial hoping the product will bend. It will not.

What MimikTrader does not copy and what that means in practice
Does not copy / does not doWhat that means in practice
Topstep Live (funded) accountsNot supported for copy trading. Do not add them as leaders or followers in any copy group.
Unsupported brokersCopy talks to APIs Mimik has built: Tradovate, ProjectX, Rithmic (NinjaTrader only when Tradovate-brokered). Other logins do not copy.
Signals or someone else’s tradesNot a signal service. Not a social marketplace. It mirrors your leader. You still pick the trade.
Orders onto the leaderThe leader is mirror-only. Mimik does not place, modify, or cancel on it. (Pro TradingView webhooks can place the leader order, then copy — still one leader.)
A second leader in the same groupExactly one leader per group. An account belongs to a single group — not leader here and follower there.
Missed fills after a disconnectThat trade is not queued or replayed. Connected siblings keep copying. You resync; the copier does not catch up.
Open size when you disable a followerRemoving a follower or pausing a group stops new copies. It does not flatten size already open. Flatten first if you want flat.
Contract-month rollsMimik does not auto-roll months. You flatten or roll every login yourself.
Consistency / best-day %Mimik does not enforce a firm’s consistency percentage. It enforces the limits you configure. Best-day math is your job.
A per-order contract capSizing is multiplier-only. Floor is 1 contract — a tiny multiplier does not skip the trade.
Firm rules, payouts, or approvalsIndependent software. Compatible ≠ approved. No eval-pass or payout guarantee. Software does not override TOS.

What it does copy (short, FAQ-safe)

MimikTrader is a cloud futures trade copier. It keeps its own broker connections. Your computer can be off.

What copies: fills on a connected leader, replicated to that group’s followers at each follower’s sizing multiplier. TradingView, NinjaTrader, or the broker UI all look the same once the order hits a connected Tradovate, ProjectX, or Rithmic account.

Who can sit in one group: mixed connections. A Tradovate leader can copy to ProjectX and Rithmic followers in the same group if each account is connected and synced.

ProjectX path that is supported: evaluation / simulated ProjectX accounts as leaders or followers, connected with platform username + API key.

What always stays available: closes, reducing, and flattening are never blocked by risk limits, account locks, or a symbol whitelist. That is exit permission — not a promise the symbol map is right.

Pro risk (FAQ / Plans wording only): daily and weekly limits, trailing drawdown, auto-flatten and account locking, configured per account. When a limit hits: closing-only → flatten → lock. Other non-breached followers can keep copying. Starter is copy-only — no risk suite, no journal.

That is the supported shape. Everything in the table above is out.

ProjectX eval / sim vs Topstep Live funded

This is the limit people discover after they already have a card on file. Spell it now.

Evaluation / simulated ProjectX — supported

ProjectX is a supported broker connection. You connect with your ProjectX username and an API key generated in the ProjectX platform. Behind that connection sits your firm’s ProjectX environment — you do not hunt a gateway URL.

Public product wording: use evaluation / simulated ProjectX accounts as leaders and followers. Check the account in front of you before you build a group. “ProjectX” on a marketing page is not the same as “this login is an eval.”

A connection is one authorized login. An account is one balance under that login. One ProjectX connection can surface more than one account. Connecting the login is not permission to copy every account under it. If a Topstep Live (funded) account appears in the list, leave it out of every copy group.

Topstep Live (funded) — not supported

MimikTrader does not support copy trading on Topstep Live (funded) accounts. Do not add those accounts as leaders or followers in any copy group.

That is a hard product limit. This page will not walk around it. There is no routing trick in the next paragraph. If the account is Topstep Live funded, it is out of scope for Mimik copy.

If your entire book is Topstep Live funded, MimikTrader is the wrong tool for those accounts. Do not start a trial to find that out the hard way.

What this section is not

You own the accounts. You confirm the firm. You verify in sim on the account types that are supported.

  • It is not a claim that Mimik is approved by Topstep. It is not.
  • It is not a claim about every funded account at every ProjectX-routed firm. The hard public line on this page is Topstep Live (funded). Confirm other firms’ current rules and your account type yourself.
  • It is not a review of Topstep’s own built-in copier. TopstepX ships a native Lead / Follower tool with its own documented limits. That is a different product — not a way to put Live funded accounts into Mimik.
  • If you are comparing Topstep’s built-in tool: TopstepX native copier limits

Limits that show up after the first fill

The Live-funded row should stop a signup. These are the ones that surprise people after a green connection.

The leader does not become a bot. You trade the leader. Mimik does not. Public FAQ: it never places, modifies, or cancels on the leader. If you expected the copier to flatten the account you are staring at or roll the month — that is not the model. The one documented exception: Pro TradingView webhook strategies can place the order on the leader, which then copies to followers. Still one leader. Still your strategy. Still not a signal feed.

One brain per group. No dual-leader groups. Public FAQ: each account belongs to a single group. Two strategies means two groups, each with its own leader.

Disconnects do not replay. A follower that is offline misses the fill. That miss is not queued. Other connected followers keep going. Public help for a mismatch is a manual resync. Flatten first if you need flat; disabling the follower does not close size.

Multiplier math will not skip a trade. Follower quantity is the leader quantity times that follower’s multiplier, rounded up, with a floor of one contract. A 0.1× follower still takes 1 lot when the leader takes 1. There is no fixed-quantity mode and no per-order cap. If you needed “never more than 2 on this eval,” that clamp is not a Mimik setting — size the multiplier and the dollar risk limits, and stay inside the firm’s own position-size rule.

Consistency is not a Mimik switch. Firms publish best-day / consistency percentages. Mimik does not enforce those percentages. Public wording: it enforces the limits you configure (daily loss, drawdown). Multi-day consistency or scaling rules stay on you. A clean copy of a windfall day can still fail a best-day test on every follower at once.

Rolls are not automatic. Leader on the new quarter, follower still on the dead month, is a calendar spread you did not ask for. Mimik does not auto-roll months, auto-map symbols, or rewrite ES into MES. You flatten or roll every login, then sim one micro on the new dated contract.

NinjaTrader is not a separate broker. There is no standalone NinjaTrader integration. If the seat is Tradovate-brokered, you connect with Tradovate OAuth and it behaves like Tradovate — because to the API, it is. A NinjaTrader login that is not behind a supported broker connection does not copy.

Where MimikTrader fits (facts only)

As of 19 Aug 2026, from public FAQ / Plans and existing Mimik pages. Starter proves copy + multipliers inside those caps — on supported account types. Pro if you also need live per-account flatten / lock, the journal, unlimited connections, or TradingView webhooks. Neither replaces firm risk. Neither copies Topstep Live funded.

  • Cloud futures trade copier; no VPS required
  • Brokers today: Tradovate, NinjaTrader (Tradovate-brokered), ProjectX, Rithmic
  • Tradovate connects via OAuth — Mimik never stores your Tradovate password
  • ProjectX: username + API key; eval / sim OK; Topstep Live funded no
  • Copy groups: exactly one leader; the leader is mirror-only (webhook exception on Pro, above)
  • Starter — $29/mo: copy-only; up to 5 broker connections; up to 5 copy groups; multiplier sizing; no risk suite; no journal
  • Pro — $49.99/mo: unlimited connections / groups; risk suite; journal / analytics; TradingView webhook strategies; about 25% off yearly
  • Risk suite (Pro), FAQ / Plans wording: daily and weekly limits, trailing drawdown, auto-flatten and account locking, configured per account
  • Trial: 7-day free trial, card required, cancel anytime
  • Not a signal service; no eval-pass or payout guarantees
  • MimikTrader does not claim any prop firm “officially approved” the product

FAQ

Can Mimik copy my Topstep Live (funded) account? No. Do not add those accounts as leaders or followers.

Can I use ProjectX evaluation or sim accounts? Yes. Public product wording: use evaluation / simulated ProjectX accounts as leaders and followers. Connect with username + API key. Confirm the account in front of you is actually eval / sim before you size.

Does Mimik generate signals or copy other traders? No. Not a signal service. Not a social marketplace. It copies your leader.

Will Mimik place or flatten trades on my leader? No — the leader is mirror-only. Exception: Pro TradingView webhook strategies can place the order on the leader, then copy.

If a follower disconnects, does the missed trade catch up later? No. Missed trades are not queued or replayed. Resync yourself. Flatten first if you want that account flat.

Does Mimik auto-roll contract months or enforce consistency %? No and no. You roll each login. You watch best-day math. Mimik enforces the limits you configure.

Is Mimik approved by Topstep or any prop firm? No. Independent software. Firm names are compatibility context only.

Starter or Pro if my stack is supported? Starter ($29/mo) for copy + multipliers inside 5 connections / 5 groups. Pro ($49.99/mo) for the risk suite, journal, unlimited connections, or TradingView webhooks. Neither plan changes the Topstep Live funded limit.

Soft next step

If a row in the limits table is your whole book, do not start a trial. If your accounts are on supported connections — Tradovate, Rithmic, and ProjectX eval / sim — and you want a cloud leader → follower map, stress-test MimikTrader’s 7-day free trial (card required, cancel anytime). Keep it sim-first. You own the accounts.
