Rithmic Is Routing Infrastructure
When traders say they have a Rithmic account, they usually mean a futures prop or retail account that routes orders through Rithmic's market infrastructure. Rithmic is not itself a prop firm, a payout desk, or a signal service. The firm that issued your evaluation or funded account decides the rules; Rithmic is the pipe those orders travel through.
That distinction matters for copy trading. Compatibility is about whether MimikTrader can authenticate to the Rithmic system your firm uses and place or mirror orders on the accounts under that login — not about MimikTrader being affiliated with, approved by, or endorsed by any named firm.
For the product-level Rithmic connection walkthrough and feature list, see the Rithmic trade copier page. This guide focuses on the prop-account workflow: credentials, systems, mixed-platform groups, and risk facts that match how MimikTrader is documented in Help.
Compatibility context only
Firm names appear only as routing/compatibility context. MimikTrader is independent software — not a broker, financial adviser, or signal provider. Mentions of prop firms do not imply official approval, partnership, or any pass/payout guarantee. Always verify current rules with your firm before you configure limits or start copying.
Firm-Issued Rithmic Credentials vs Dashboard Login
Prop firms that route through Rithmic typically issue a separate Rithmic username and password for trading access. That pair is usually not the same as the email/password you use to log into the firm's own dashboard, billing portal, or affiliate site.
In MimikTrader you connect with the Rithmic credentials the firm issued for Rithmic — not your firm-website login. Rithmic usernames are case-sensitive. A stray leading or trailing space from copy-and-paste is the most common reason a login is rejected.
Once the connection authenticates, MimikTrader surfaces the trading accounts under that Rithmic login. You do not need a separate Mimik connection for every account number if those accounts share the same Rithmic credentials; one connection can cover multiple accounts underneath it. Details on connection vs account live in Supported Brokers.
- Use firm-issued Rithmic username + password — not the firm dashboard login
- Enter the username exactly as issued (case-sensitive; trim paste spaces)
- One Rithmic connection can expose multiple accounts under that login
- Retail Rithmic 01 and Rithmic Paper Trading systems are supported as well
The System Picker: Choosing Your Firm's Rithmic Gateway
When you add a Rithmic connection in MimikTrader (Connections → Add Connection → Rithmic), you pick a Rithmic system from a list. That choice tells MimikTrader which Rithmic gateway your accounts live behind. You do not need to hunt for a server hostname yourself.
The list includes prop-firm systems used for compatibility routing — for example Topstep, Apex Trader Funding, Bulenox, Tradeify, Lucid Trading, and others — plus retail options such as Rithmic 01 and Rithmic Paper Trading. Selecting the wrong system is a common setup failure: credentials can be valid for one gateway and rejected on another.
If your firm's docs say Rithmic but the connection fails, re-check which system name the firm lists for your account type, then retry with the matching picker entry. Compatibility depends on routing, not on marketing labels alone.
Setup tip
Wrong system + right password still fails. Confirm the Rithmic system name from your firm's connection docs or support materials before you assume the password is bad.
Cloud Copying — No R|Trader Pro, No VPS
MimikTrader connects to Rithmic over Rithmic's own API path from Mimik's cloud. Copying does not require R|Trader Pro, NinjaTrader, or another desktop front end to stay open on your machine. You do not need a VPS babysitting a local session for Rithmic followers to keep receiving copies.
You can still use whatever charting or order-entry front end you prefer on the leader account. MimikTrader watches broker-side activity on connected accounts and replicates according to your copy group — it does not depend on a browser tab remaining open on your laptop.
If you are weighing whether a VPS is required for Tradovate-style setups, see the dedicated VPS guide linked below. The Rithmic path here is the same idea: cloud connections stay up without renting a Windows box.
- No R|Trader Pro required for MimikTrader copying
- No VPS required for cloud copy groups
- Leader can still be traded from your usual front end
- Follower copying continues while your computer is offline
Cross-Platform Groups with Tradovate, ProjectX, and NinjaTrader
A single MimikTrader copy group can mix platforms. The leader might be a Tradovate-routed account while followers sit on Rithmic — or the reverse. ProjectX connections and NinjaTrader accounts that are brokered through Tradovate can sit in the same group as Rithmic accounts when each connection is healthy.
That matters for traders who hold evaluations or funded seats at firms that route differently. You are not forced into one vendor's closed ecosystem for every seat. Size each follower with its own multiplier, and keep risk limits scoped per account so one firm's tighter buffer does not silently inherit another account's room.
Each copy group still has exactly one leader. An account cannot be leader in one group and follower in another at the same time. For broker-by-broker connection details, see Supported Brokers and the ProjectX trade copier page.
- Rithmic + Tradovate + ProjectX (+ NT via Tradovate) in one group
- One leader per group; followers can be on different platforms
- Per-follower multipliers for account-size differences
- Per-account risk settings — do not share one buffer across unlike rules
FAQ-Safe Mimik Risk Facts (Not Firm Guarantees)
MimikTrader's risk suite is software configuration on your accounts — it does not rewrite a firm's rulebook, guarantee a pass, or guarantee a payout. Configure limits from your firm's current published rules, then treat Mimik's enforcement as a backstop you control.
On Pro, you can set daily and weekly loss-style limits and trailing drawdown monitoring per account. When a configured limit is breached, the account moves through closing-only, then MimikTrader flattens open positions at the broker, then the account locks. Other accounts in the group keep running under their own settings.
Closing, reducing, and flattening are never blocked by risk limits, account locks, or the symbol whitelist — on any account in any state. That is a core MimikTrader rule, not a plan upsell. Getting out always remains available.
- Daily and weekly limits configurable per account (Pro risk suite)
- Trailing drawdown monitored on live account equity / ticks as configured
- Breach path: closing-only → flatten at broker → lock
- Auto-flatten and lock are per account — one breach does not flatten the whole group
- Closes, reduces, and flattens are never blocked by risk rules
Not a signal service
MimikTrader copies what you (or your webhook/leader path) already trade. It does not sell trade ideas, promise evaluation passes, or speak for any prop firm's risk desk. Wrong limits in Mimik are still your configuration — verify numbers against the firm before you size up.
Common Failure Modes
Most Rithmic setup pain is credential or system selection — not a platform outage. Work through these before assuming the copier is down.
- Dashboard password used instead of firm-issued Rithmic credentials
- Wrong Rithmic system selected in the picker
- Username case or paste whitespace causing auth rejection
- Follower disconnected when the leader trades — that fill is not auto-replayed later
- Risk limits left blank or looser than the firm's actual rule on a funded seat
- Expecting MimikTrader to approve or pass an evaluation — it only enforces what you configure
- Leader and follower sizing mismatched across unlike account sizes without multipliers
Pricing and What You Get
Starter is $29/month. Pro is $49.99/month. Yearly billing is about 25% off the monthly rate on both plans. Every plan starts with a 7-day trial; cancel during the trial and you are not billed for the subscription.
Supported broker connections today include Tradovate, NinjaTrader accounts brokered through Tradovate, ProjectX, and Rithmic. Starter covers trade copying with connection and group caps. Pro adds the risk-management suite (daily/weekly limits, trailing drawdown, auto-flatten and locking), TradingView webhook strategies, and advanced journal/reporting.
Exact entitlements and billing mechanics are on the pricing page and in Help → FAQ / Plans & billing. Numbers here are blunt plan facts, not a promotion tied to any prop firm.
- Starter — $29/mo
- Pro — $49.99/mo
- Yearly — roughly 25% off monthly
- 7-day trial on either plan
- Brokers: Tradovate, NinjaTrader (via Tradovate), ProjectX, Rithmic
Frequently Asked Questions
Is MimikTrader officially approved by my prop firm? No claim of official approval is made here. Firm names are compatibility/routing context only. Check your firm's current policy on third-party copiers and API access.
Which password do I use for Rithmic? The Rithmic username and password your firm issued for Rithmic — usually not your firm dashboard login. Match the system picker to the firm's Rithmic system name.
Do I need R|Trader Pro or a VPS? No. MimikTrader's Rithmic connection and copying run in the cloud.
Can I mix Rithmic followers with a Tradovate or ProjectX leader? Yes — cross-platform groups are supported when each connection is authorized and healthy.
What happens on a risk breach? The affected account goes closing-only, flattens, then locks. Closes are never blocked. Other accounts keep their own settings.
Does MimikTrader pass evaluations or guarantee payouts? No. It is software for copying and optional per-account risk enforcement — not a signal service and not a pass/payout guarantee.
