Copy Trades Across Tradovate, Rithmic, and ProjectX (One Leader)

Many prop books are not one broker anymore — Tradovate on one firm, Rithmic on another, ProjectX on a third. This guide covers why that happens, how each connection authenticates, how one-leader groups and multipliers work, and FAQ-safe Mimik facts. Firm names are compatibility context only — not approvals or pass guarantees.

Why Prop Books Span Tradovate, Rithmic, and ProjectX

Futures prop firms do not all clear through the same stack. One evaluation might land on Tradovate. A second firm issues Rithmic credentials. A third routes through ProjectX. Traders who scale across firms often end up with a mixed book — not because they wanted three platforms, but because each product’s routing is fixed.

That mix is where manual tab-switching breaks down. Different logins, different front ends, and different reset clocks mean the “same trade” is rarely the same click path. A cloud trade copier’s job in that world is narrow: connect each account through its real broker API, designate one leader, and mirror fills to followers with per-account sizing and (on Pro) per-account risk.

MimikTrader is independent software. Naming Tradovate, Rithmic, ProjectX, or any prop firm is about connection compatibility — not affiliation, endorsement, or an official firm approval to copy.

Compatibility only

Always verify your firm’s current copy / API / multi-account policy for the specific account product you hold. Rules change. A copier does not grant permission your firm withholds.

How Each Connection Authenticates

Cross-platform copying only works if each login is authorized the way that broker expects. In MimikTrader, a connection is one authorized broker login; accounts are the individual balances under that login. Mix brokers freely inside a copy group once each connection is healthy.

  • Tradovate — OAuth only. You authorize on Tradovate’s page; MimikTrader receives a revocable token and never stores your Tradovate password. Accounts under that login surface automatically.
  • ProjectX — username + API key (not OAuth). Generate the key in your firm’s ProjectX platform (Settings / API), reveal it fully, then add the connection with your platform username and that key.
  • Rithmic — firm-issued username + password, plus the system picker. Choose your firm’s Rithmic system (or retail Rithmic 01 / Paper Trading) when adding the connection, then enter the Rithmic credentials that firm issued — usually not your firm dashboard login. Usernames are case-sensitive.
  • NinjaTrader — not a separate broker path. If the account is brokered through Tradovate, connect with Tradovate OAuth the same way (still no Tradovate password stored).

Common auth fails

ProjectX “Unauthorized” is usually a truncated API key. Rithmic rejects are often the wrong system in the picker, dashboard password instead of firm-issued Rithmic creds, or a trailing space from paste. Fix the credential — not the copy group — first.

One Leader Per Group — Mirror-Only (Plus the Pro Webhook Exception)

Every copy group has exactly one leader and one or more followers. An account cannot be a leader in one group and a follower in another at the same time — each account belongs to a single group.

In normal leader-follower mode the leader is mirror-only: MimikTrader watches fills on the leader and replicates them to followers. It does not place, modify, or cancel orders on the leader. You keep trading that account the way you already do — Tradovate UI, NinjaTrader, R|Trader, ProjectX, TradingView pointed at the broker, and so on.

The only documented exception is TradingView webhook strategies on Pro: an alert can POST to MimikTrader, which places the matching order on the group’s leader, then copies to followers through the same pipeline. That path is opt-in automation — not silent trading of your leader while you use a desktop platform.

Multipliers and Per-Account Risk Isolation (Pro)

Follower size is not guesswork. Each follower has a sizing multiplier: follower quantity is leader quantity × multiplier, rounded up, with a floor of one contract when a trade copies. Use that to map a full-size leader into smaller evaluations, or to scale micros vs minis deliberately.

Risk isolation is a Pro entitlement — not Starter. FAQ-safe Pro risk is exactly this set, configured per account: daily/weekly limits, trailing drawdown, and auto-flatten / lock. When one follower breaches, the useful sequence is closing-only → flatten at the broker → lock that account, while other followers keep copying if they still have room. Closes and reduces are never blocked by a lock.

That is the whole claim. No “8 checks” marketing, no official firm approvals, and no pass guarantees. Software enforces the numbers you configured; firm rulebooks, broker rejects, disconnects, and slippage still sit outside any software promise.

FAQ-safe risk claim

Pro can flatten and lock the breached follower without pausing the whole group. That is per-account isolation — not a claim that MimikTrader is your firm’s official risk engine, that any firm approved the setup, or that you will stay funded.

Failure Modes Worth Planning For

Cross-broker groups fail in predictable ways. Name them before RTH so a bad morning is a checklist, not a scramble.

  • Wrong credentials / wrong Rithmic system — connection never healthy; no fills to copy.
  • Disconnected follower at the moment of a leader fill — that trade is not queued for later replay; other healthy followers still copy.
  • Multiplier too high on a small evaluation — same signal, wrong risk; fix sizing before adding accounts.
  • Starter plan with no Pro risk suite — copying works; automated daily-loss / trailing / auto-flatten does not. Do not assume risk features you have not paid for.
  • Webhook + manual trade on the same leader/symbol — double exposure if both paths fire. Keep groups and alerts unambiguous.
  • Firm policy mismatch — software can connect and copy while your product forbids third-party tools. Policy is yours to verify.

MimikTrader Facts (Starter $29 / Pro $49.99)

Stick to entitlements you can verify on Pricing and in Help — not ranking claims or “approved by firm X” lines.

  • Cloud software — no VPS required to keep copying running.
  • Connections today: Tradovate (OAuth — never stores password), ProjectX (username + API key), Rithmic (firm-issued creds + system picker), NinjaTrader via Tradovate where brokered that way.
  • Starter — $29/mo: up to 5 broker connections and 5 copy groups; trade copying. Advanced risk suite not included.
  • Pro — $49.99/mo: broader connection/group limits; FAQ-safe risk (daily/weekly limits, trailing drawdown, auto-flatten/lock per account); trading journal / advanced reporting; TradingView webhook strategies.
  • Yearly billing — about 25% off versus monthly.
  • Trial — 7-day free trial on either plan (card required to start; cancel before trial ends to avoid charge).
  • Not included — signal services, official prop-firm approvals, pass or payout guarantees, “8 checks” claims, or latency crown rankings.

Weekend Bake-Off (Then Soft Next Step)

Before you trust a mixed Tradovate / Rithmic / ProjectX group on a live week, prove the wiring when the market is quiet. The goal is configuration confidence — not a demo that “proves” you will pass.

  • Inventory each account: firm product, broker stack, daily loss, drawdown type, reset time, and whether copy/API use is allowed.
  • Add one healthy connection per login type — OAuth, ProjectX key, Rithmic system + creds — and confirm balances show before building the group.
  • Create one group: one leader, followers across brokers, multipliers written down per account size.
  • On Pro, set per-account limits inside the firm numbers where a slippage buffer makes sense; confirm closes still work under a lock.
  • If you use webhooks, test on a disposable path first and keep them off the same symbol as discretionary leader trades until the flow is clean.
  • Only then enable the profile for the accounts you will actually trade next week.

Soft CTA

If the gap is cross-broker copying with one leader — not signals or a promised pass — start a 7-day trial, connect two different broker types, and verify one fill mirrors before you scale the book.

Short FAQ

Can one copy group include Tradovate, Rithmic, and ProjectX followers? Yes — the group cares that each account is connected and synced, not that every account shares a broker.

Does MimikTrader trade my leader for me by default? No. Leader fills are mirrored. The Pro webhook path can place on the leader when you configure alerts to do that.

Is risk management on Starter? No. Automated daily/weekly limits, trailing drawdown, and auto-flatten/lock are Pro.

Will this pass my evaluation? No tool can promise that. Software enforces what you configure; markets and firm rules still apply.

Where do I confirm brokers and pricing? See Supported Brokers, Pricing, and the Help FAQ.
