Trade Copier
A trade copier is software that watches one trading account (the leader) and automatically places matching orders on one or more other accounts (followers), scaled to each follower's own size. The trader keeps trading normally in the leader account; the copier does the replication.
Copiers fall into two broad categories. A local copier runs on the same machine as the trading platform, reading orders directly from a terminal like NinjaTrader or a DOM. A cloud copier runs on a remote server, connects to each account's broker API independently, and keeps working even if the trader's own computer is off or asleep.
Why it matters
Prop firm traders often run several evaluation and funded accounts at once, sometimes across more than one firm. Manually re-entering the same trade in four or five platforms is slow and error-prone — a fumbled quantity or a missed stop-loss on one account is a real account-ending mistake. A copier removes that manual step and the timing risk that comes with it.
The local-vs-cloud distinction matters more than it looks. A local copier ties replication to one machine's uptime and network connection. A cloud copier keeps running through a home internet drop or a laptop reboot, which matters when the leader account has open positions and the followers need to stay in sync.
In MimikTrader
MimikTrader is a cloud trade copier: it connects to each account's broker independently, runs on always-on infrastructure, and keeps replicating even if the trader's own device is offline. Trades on the leader account are mirrored to every connected follower account, each sized by its own multiplier.
Example
A trader has one funded account they actively trade (the leader) and two evaluation accounts at different prop firms (followers). They place a trade in the funded account like normal. The trade copier detects it and automatically places the matching trade on both evaluation accounts, each sized by its own multiplier — the trader never opens either evaluation platform to enter the order by hand.
