Checklist, Not a Feature Pitch
Copied stacks blow up here for a boring reason: the leader rolls and a follower is still on the dead month. Tradovate can auto-roll charts; official help says that does not move open positions. You flatten or roll every account yourself. MimikTrader does not auto-roll. This is the multi-account ops version.
You own the accounts. MimikTrader is not officially approved by any firm. No pass or payout guarantees. Confirm each firm’s rules and verify in sim.
Bake-off first: test a futures trade copier in sim. After the roll, re-read every platform’s instrument string — year-digit display is not interchangeable.
Educational only
This page does not claim Mimik auto-rolls contract months, handles rolls for you, auto-maps symbols, or rewrites ES into MES. You flatten or roll every login yourself, then confirm the dated contract on the leader and each follower.
The Short Version
Cannot tick those? Do not copy at funded size through the window.
| Check | Fail looks like |
|---|---|
| Flatten or roll every account | Leader flat on December; a follower still long September |
| Front-month on leader and each follower | Chart says the new month; one ticket is still last quarter |
| Sim one micro on the new contract | First live clip after the roll is a reject or a calendar spread you did not ask for |
| Only then size | You “proved” copy last month and skipped the new dated code |
The Checklist (Before You Size After the Roll)
Then sim at micro size. Skip 3, 6, or 7 and you are guessing through the window.
- 1. Put the window on a calendar — ~10–14 Sep 2026. CME customary roll is the Monday before third-Friday expiration (14 Sep 2026; expiration 18 Sep). Volume often crosses ~8–10 days earlier. You roll when you move.
- 2. Inventory every login — leader plus each follower. Tradovate, Rithmic, ProjectX, or a NinjaTrader seat that actually clears through one of those.
- 3. Flatten or roll every account — close the old month or deliberately roll (close old + open new) on each login. A workspace chart roll is not a position roll.
- 4. Cancel working orders on the dead month — stops, targets, leftover tickets stay on the contract you submitted. A rolled chart does not rewrite them.
- 5. Confirm front-month on the leader — symbol search, not the continuous. Read the dated code the ticket will send.
- 6. Confirm front-month on each follower — same dated month/year as the leader (unless you mean a different root — mapping, not roll).
- 7. Sim one micro on the new contract — leader entry → read every follower’s instrument name and count → exit.
- 8. Flatten on the new map — leftover size on last quarter’s symbol is a fail.
- 9. Only then size — first live session after a green micro is still small.
- 10. Re-check TOS + rejects — unknown / expired / liquidation-only = stop. “Compatible” ≠ “approved.”
Why Copy Stacks Fail on the Roll
A single-account miss is one mess. A copy group has n.
Leader rolled, follower still on the dead month. Leader fills December. One follower is still on September. Calendar spread you did not ask for — or a reject while siblings fill. The book is no longer one trade.
Flatten misses. You flatten the leader. The follower’s size is still last quarter. Flatten hits the new symbol (or a continuous the destination rejects) and leaves size. Public Mimik FAQ: closes, reducing, and flattening are never blocked by risk limits, account locks, or the symbol whitelist — exit permission, not a promise the map is right.
Rejected orders. Expired month, Tradovate’s “liquidation only, contract is about to be expired,” wrong year-digit style, or a continuous on a dated-only API. Public FAQ: the reject is recorded; siblings can keep following unless their rules trip. The missed leg is still a fail.
Charts lie. Tradovate modules can auto-roll so the chart and SuperDOM look current. Official vendor help: neither automatic nor manual rollovers will roll over open positions. You can stare at ESZ26 while the account is still long ESU26.
Partials. One clip on the new month, the next on the old — leftover you will hate.
This is not latency. No millisecond table saves a stale month.
Tradovate: Charts Can Roll. Positions Do Not.
Official Tradovate / NinjaTrader vendor help (Contract Rollovers — Tradovate Web and Desktop): automatic rollovers are enabled by default so workspace modules display the current contract. You can roll a Chart or SuperDOM from the module gear, take the autoroll notification, or prohibit autoroll in Preferences. Neither automatic nor manual rollovers move open positions.
Same vendor family (Contract Rollovers & Expirations): rolling a position means close the expiring contract and open the next month. Equity-index expiration is the third Friday of March, June, September, December. “Liquidation only, contract is about to be expired” means flatten or roll — do not keep sending opens. Working orders stay on the dated contract you submitted; a chart roll does not rewrite them. Cancel and replace on the new month, on each login. The ticket is the truth.
If you also use Tradovate’s native Group Trade, you still flatten or roll each account in the group. Native grouping is not a roll engine.
- Native grouping is not a roll engine: Group Trade vs a trade copier
This Window: ESU26 → ESZ26 (~10–14 Sep 2026)
As of 19 Aug 2026, September 2026 is the typical ES/NQ front. Re-check volume the week you trade.
Treat ~10–14 Sep 2026 as the working window: watch volume from the 10th; do not assume the old front is still the copy symbol after the 14th. Same pair on Nasdaq: NQU26 → NQZ26. Do not invent other tickers. Do not assume ESU6 and ESU26 are interchangeable. Tradovate’s documented pattern is instrument + month + last digit of the year (published example: ESZ4 = Dec 2024). Other UIs show two digits.
- Expiration — third Friday. September 2026: 18 Sep 2026.
- Customary CME roll date — Monday prior. CME equity-index table: 14 Sep 2026. After that Monday, December (Z) is the customary lead month.
- Volume roll — often ~8–10 days before expiration. Industry calendars put the crossover around 10–11 Sep 2026.
Flatten or Roll — Every Account, Not Just the Chart
Pick one per login: flatten (cleanest copy-group move; you accept a gap) or roll the position (close old + open new; some accounts may lag). Copy groups hate a staggered book. If one follower is still on September while the leader is in December, the next fill is a wrong-month copy or a reject.
Do not “let the copier roll it.” Mimik does not auto-roll. Leader on ESZ26, follower still on ESU26 — that is this page’s failure mode.
After flatten/roll: no leftover size on the old month, no working orders on the old month, and the next opening ticket on each account names the new dated contract.
Confirm Front-Month on the Leader and Each Follower
Leader first. If the leader chart auto-rolled and the leader ticket did not, you will copy the dead month into every follower that still accepts it.
Then each follower. Mixed gateways (Tradovate + Rithmic + ProjectX) are where the string changes — ESZ26 vs ESZ6 vs ESZ6.CME vs a continuous the destination rejects. Do a tiny round-trip after the roll, not last quarter’s notes.
Same root unless you mean ES vs MES. 1 ES ≠ 1 MES. Name the root, name the count, prove both in sim.
Sim One Micro on the New Contract. Only Then Size.
Same weekend discipline as a sim bake-off. Add a roll drill.
MimikTrader is one cloud futures trade copier you can run that drill on — not the only option, not “official” anything. This page does not claim Mimik auto-rolls months, auto-maps symbols, or rewrites ES into MES for you. You set the group; you read the sim tickets. Pro risk isolation is per account — useful after the map is right.
- 1. All accounts on the new dated month — you can read the instrument name on every login.
- 2. Leader 1 micro (or 1 MES) → every follower opens the same month/year you intended, at the configured multiplier.
- 3. Exit / flatten — every follower is flat on that same contract. No leftover on U.
- 4. Optional reject — a visible stale-month reject in sim is useful; then flatten the good legs.
- Per-account flatten/lock is useful after the map is right: Prop firm copy rules

FAQ
Does Mimik — or any copier — auto-roll ES/NQ for me? Do not count on it. This page does not claim Mimik auto-rolls. Tradovate can auto-roll workspace charts; official help says that does not roll open positions. You flatten or roll each account, then confirm the dated contract on the leader and every follower.
When is the Sep 2026 ES/NQ roll? Watch ~10–14 Sep 2026. CME customary roll is Monday 14 Sep 2026 (expiration Friday 18 Sep 2026). Volume often migrates ~8–10 days earlier. Pair: ESU26 → ESZ26, NQU26 → NQZ26. Re-check volume. Year-digit display varies.
Why did a follower reject after I rolled the chart? Chart ≠ ticket. Expired / liquidation-only month, wrong year-digit style, missing exchange suffix, or a continuous on a dated-only API. Read the reject; flatten leftovers. Public FAQ: Mimik does not block closes; siblings can keep copying unless their own rules trip.
Flatten every account or try to roll size across? Flatten is the clean copy-group move. Rolling size only works if you can do it on every login before the next leader fill. A staggered book is a spread.
Pass, payout, or official approval? No. Not a signal service. No eval-pass or payout guarantees. Independent software — firm names are compatibility context only. Verify with the firm. You own the accounts.
Starter or Pro just to run the roll drill? Starter ($29/mo) for copy + multipliers inside 5 connections / 5 groups. Pro ($49.99/mo) for the risk suite, journal, unlimited connections, or TradingView webhooks.
Soft Next Step
Write the four checks on paper: flatten or roll every account, front-month on leader and each follower, sim one micro on the new contract, only then size. Run that drill on whatever copier you already have. If you want a cloud stack for the bake-off, MimikTrader’s 7-day free trial is the soft path (card required, cancel anytime).
